Potters sweep Tigers, Rebels

EAST LIVERPOOL -Six was the number of the night.

The Potters scored 114 points in two matches Thursday night as the East Liverpool wrestling team swept a tri-match against Wellsville and Crestview on Senior Night at Potter Fieldhouse.

The Potters defeated the Rebels, 60-21, and the Potters defeated the Tigers, 54-30. The Rebels topped the Tigers, 42-30.

East Liverpool head coach Chad Hager said it was a good night for his team.

"It was a nice Senior Night," he said. "The seniors got in some good matches. We wrestled well, and on it is on to another dual, a tri and the postseason. I thought it turned out well."

OG wins tightly-contested match vs. EL, 46-33

NEW MANCHESTER - The Bears came out on top.

Oak Glen held home court on Wednesday, topping visiting East Liverpool, 46-33, in a tightly contested match on the mats between cross-river rivals.

The Bears started the day with three straight wins as the match started at 113 pounds where Zach Brown scored a tech fall against East Liverpool's Cody Oiler, 18-1.

The Potters then won three of the next four matches to keep things close.

A back-and-forth battle down the stretch ensued with Oak Glen getting the last word as Josh Cornell finished the day with a pin of East Liverpool's Alex Potts in 5:22 in the 106-pound division.
