EATON, Ohio - Three East Liverpool Middle Schoool cross country runners - Brandon Lucas, Chris Lucas and Lisa Zimmerman - participated Sunday October 27th at the 2003 Ohio Cross Country Coaches Junior High Championships.

Brandon finished 100th in 12:35 of 197 boys runners and brother Chris placed 133 in 13:08.

In the girls' race, Zimmerman was 92nd of186 runners.

"It's an honor just to qualify and go and run and represent your community and school," said ELMS coach Scott Thornberry. "They did well all year and we are all very proud of them."

BYESVILLE - The East Liverpool cross country team competed in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Championships held Saturday at Meadowbrook High School.

In the boys middle school race, East Liverpool finished fourth with 75 points. The meet was won by Harrison Central with 35 points. The Potters were led by Brandon Lucas, who was sixth overall in 12:40. Chris Lucas finished 12th in 13:07, followed by Josh Boyer (32nd in 13:54), Theron Pearson (51st in 17:14) and Alex Estell (53rd in 19:00).

In the girls middle school race, the Potters had four runners and did not qualify for the team scoring. Lisa Zimmerman led East Liverpool by finishing ninth in 14:46. Stephanie Martin was 32nd in 16:58, followed by Katie Sullivan (33rd in 16:59) and Katie Riley (42nd in 18:42).

Columbiana County Meet

The Potter Middle School Cross Country team completed in the County Cross Country Meet held at Salem on Tuesday. The Boys finishing second overall and the girls posted a fifth place finish.

Brandon Lucas finished as in first place by 12 seconds in front of the rest of the pack.

SUBURBAN LEAGUE

The Potter Middle School Cross Country team completed in the Suburban League held at Austintown on Tuesday. In team results the Potter Boys finished third with 86 points and the Girls finished fifth with 137 points.
